Does Your Site Look Good on a Smart Phone?
Your company may have spent a lot of time and money developing a website that is functional, beautiful, promotional, all the good stuff you need to make potential clients aware of the services you offer. But here's the key question:
How does it look on your customer's iPhone?
If the answer is “terrible” then you need to step up your game. Perhaps your latest web design took place 2 or 3 years ago. Well, even that short a time ago, performance on small devices wasn’t a priority issue. How do I know that? Just look around — when I Google an area’s “law firms” or “financial advisors,” and look at the results I am surprised to see that up to 50% of the sites are see are NOT mobile-ready! What does that mean?
Your site may look terrible on iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxy, and any tablets if...
- The images or text blocks run off the page. This can be annoying to visitors and drive them away from your site ("Bounce Rate").
- The fonts are too small, making them unreadable! Text should expand or contract depending on the size of the screen and their relative importance.
- The site elements don't resize or zoom and "tumble" nicely down the page. We've all seen this -- it happens when parts of a site look all jumbled and uneven. An aesthetic turn-off for potential customers.
- There is no mobile menu. All mobile-ready sites need some sort of mobile menu for ease of use.
If you have these problems, it’s time to go back to your web designer for a serious tune-up. The first question you will ask is: “Is my site Responsive in the first place?” If they don’t have a great answer, it may be time to move on to an up-to-date designer or developer that knows how to solve your problem the right way. Contact us to learn more or call us at 800-303-1400.
What is a "mobile menu?"

A mobile menu is simply that small square icon with 3 lines you see in the upper-right corner of good mobile-ready websites. When it’s clicked, a few main menu items drop down which are easily read and touched on a small device. This brings you to the specific site area you want your visitors to see. Typically, these may be “About Us,” “Our Services,” “Contact Us,” and even “Call Now.”
Remember: Google gives mobile-optimized sites a higher search priority!
In fact, you can visit Google’s testing page now to see if your site is mobile-ready!

Responsive Design
In general, your website should be "Responsive." If it isn't, that is usually the reason it doesn't look right on various devices and even on different computer screen sizes.
